The Rock Dumper is a two-axle underground wagon capable of handling drop-loaded boulders in sizes up to 1500 mm. The wagon is designed for rolling bottom discharge and loading and has a discharge capacity of up to 17,000 tonnes per hour.
This compact solution is dimensioned for the small drifts of underground mines. The Rock Dumper wagons built for the LKAB Kiruna iron ore mine have a width of 2056 mm and a height of 1825 mm. These dimensions can be adjusted according to your needs.
Thanks to the mechanical design, there is a limited amount of waste between wagons without any advanced automation. A train set of up to 25 wagons can operate with a single locomotive.
To lower the tare weight of the wagon, we have used ultra-high-strength steels and a high-performance wear plate system developed by LKAB; WRC System® is designed for easy plate change-outs and allows us to use wear plates as thin as 10 mm, instead of the usual 25 to 30 mm.
The flexibility of the system helps us evaluate and identify precisely the right wear plate for your fraction and mineral. In addition to the benefits provided by WRC System®, the RD is designed for easy changing and servicing of chevrons, bearings and wheels.
The rims and tires in the propulsion unit are standard truck components.
