Kiruna Wagon delivers wagons to the Swedish Transport Administration

2022-01-07T10:23:38+00:00

Kiruna Wagon has delivered two out of four custom made apparatus wagons to the Swedish Transport Administration. The three-axle apparatus wagons will be used for transport and storage of instruments that are used during work at substations along the track. In the project, Kiruna Wagon has reconstructed the Swedish Transport Administration’s older model of apparatus wagon with new suspension equipment and running gear, among other things, to make the wagon compatible with modern wheel axles, bearings and springs, etc. For the body, modern lightweight materials in sandwich elements were chosen instead of a heavier welded construction. The wagon project was [...]

Kiruna Wagon wins major order to build belt conveyor for LKAB

2022-01-07T10:34:09+00:00

The belt conveyors to be replaced cover a distance of 170 metres and are included in the critical part of the Kiruna Mine’s process chain, called the "red line", which must be running around the clock for LKAB to reach its target of 37 million tonnes of finished ore products per year. "We chose Kiruna Wagon as a partner for this extensive and complex project because we have very good collaborative experience from previous projects. It is a well-structured company with high technical competence, and that Kiruna Wagon is already well acquainted with LKAB's routines for the sorting plant is [...]

Successful initial testing of HERMES Side Dumper system

2022-01-07T10:45:23+00:00

The wagon and unloading station produced by Kiruna Wagon for ICL Iberia (Iberpotash) in the EU-funded HERMES project have undergone initial testing with excellent results. During the trials, the performance of the load carrier and unloading station was tested without the wagon’s undercarriage and bogie. Authentic trials of the complete wagon, loaded with Iberpotash salt commodity, will be carried out in April. The initial tests were very satisfying, said Kiruna Wagon’s supervising engineer, Martin Malmelöv: “We are very happy with the outcome. The mechanical principles operated entirely as expected and we will now be looking at details, such as adjusting [...]

New demo video featuring the award-winning Helix Dumper

2022-01-07T10:56:45+00:00

In our new demo video you can watch the Helix Dumper system unload iron ore fines at a discharge rate of 25,000 tonnes per hour. Filmed in November 2016, the video shows Helix Dumpers designed for a 30-tonne axle load. Each wagon holds approximately 98 tonnes and takes about 14 seconds to unload. Running in unbroken train sets, this gives a discharge rate of 25,000 tonnes per hour, which is unprecedented in the unloading of ore concentrate and other fine-grained and potentially sticky commodities. There is no existing technology that can match the productivity of the Helix Dumper system when [...]

Kiruna Wagon has won the procurement contract for relining when Rana Gruber now for the first time relines its wagon fleet since it was taken into production two years ago. Rana Gruber uses 40 Bottom Dumpers to transport primary sized crude ore, 0–300 mm in size and with a high quartz content, from the Kvannevann underground iron ore mine and satellite open pit deposits in the Ørtfjell area to the dressing plant and port in Mo i Rana. The fleet carries about 3.7 million tonnes of crude iron ore per year and this tough challenge calls for the wagons to [...]
